Following today’s very welcome publication by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) of an update to the process for managing carbon in the built environment, CARES is pleased to have played a part in these critical steps towards accelerating supply chain decarbonisation.
The Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 2080 – Carbon Management in Buildings and Infrastructure has been through an extensive multi-stakeholder revision process. The revised PAS 2080 has a renewed focus on decarbonisation of the built environment, with a paradigm shift to a systems-thinking approach that ensures alignment with the net zero carbon transition. The revision reflects the common conclusion of different industry initiatives: The built environment is a complex system made of both infrastructure and buildings, which are closely interconnected, and their performance depends on one another.
CARES is delighted to have supported this process. As well as being part of the Technical Advisory Panel, it has contributed two case studies which help to demonstrate how collaboration and the provision of high quality, 3rd party verified Global Warming Potential (GWP) data can flow through the value chain from steel mill to contractor and client utilising the CARES Cloud platform.
